Creating a new director

Here's a quick guide to setting up a user account for directors in your region.

Check Existing Accounts:

Before creating a new login, verify if the director already has one for the specific school and program they manage:

  • If they do, they can simply reset their password (provide password reset instructions).
  • Ensure any previous usernames associated with them haven't been set to "inactive".

Unique Logins per Program:

Directors need a separate username for each school and program they oversee.

Example: Mr. Smith, director at Jones High School, manages both band and choir. He'll need a unique username for each program (one for band and another for choir).


Creating a New User Login (if applicable):

If no existing or deactivated accounts were found, let's create a new user login for the director!

Here's a step-by-step guide using your Executive Regional Secretary Account:

  1. Log In and Access Director List:
    • Log in to your Executive Regional Secretary Account.
    • On the homepage, locate and select the "Director List" tile.

  2. Create New Director Entry:
    • Click the green "+" icon in the upper right corner (this opens the "Director Creation" page).

  3. School and Director Information:
    • Select the school from the dropdown list. (The address will automatically populate)
      • NOTE: If the school is missing, navigate to the "School List" page and create the school entry (including address and TEA Code).

    • Enter the director's full name.
    • Create a username following the standard format:
      • First initial + Last name + School type (e.g., "HS" for High School) + Program type letter (e.g., "B" for Band)
      • Example: Tom Smith, director at the High School for Band - username: tsmithhsb
    • Ensure Uniqueness: This username needs to be unique. If it's already taken, adjust it slightly (e.g., tsmithhsb1).
    • Enter the director's email address and phone number.

      Finalize and Notify:

    • Click "Submit" to create the account.

    • Email the director their username and instructions for creating their password.

Congratulations! The new director's account is set up. You can now view them in your Director List.
