Re-aligning schools to a different UIL Region

Every two years, UIL re-aligns schools based on how many students they have and where they are located. This can be a lot to handle, so people in charge of these groups (Regional Secretaries) need to work together to make sure everything goes smoothly for the schools that are moving.

These are the steps to follow:

NOTE:  THESE STEPS MUSTBE FOLLOWED IN THIS ORDER SO AT TO NOT AFFECT PAST AND PRESENT ENTRIES

Regional Secretary of the Region the school is moving INTO:

1.      The Regional Secretary of the Region that school is moving to should add the School, Address, City, State, Zip, TEA Code and Conference to their school list. Directions on how to set up a new school can be found here.

Regional Secretary the school is moving OUT OF:

1.      The Regional Secretary of the school that is moving to another region should then log in and update the region for all the directors at the schools that are moving to another region.

Example: Brooklyn High School is moving from one region to another.

a.      From the Home screen, select the Director List tile

b.      Make sure you have selected to Show Inactive Directors so that you don’t miss anyone

c.      Search for school name (in this example: Brooklyn High School). This will be the list of directors you will need to update.

d.      Click the pencil icon to the right of the director’s name to make an update to the director profile.

e.      Update the Official UIL Region (and Alternate Region if you know it) to the Region the school will now be in.  This will move the directors from the old Region to the new Region.

f.        Click the green “Update Profile” button

g.       Proceed to the next director at that school.

NOTE:  You may want to validate with the Regional Secretary of that the updates have happened correctly after completing the first director.  If the steps have been followed correctly, the director will no longer be visible in the old region, and will be visible in the new region.

2.      Once all of the directors have had their regions updated to the new region, you may go in and delete the school from the school list of the old region. Directions can be found here.
