Re-Aligning Schools to a Different UIL Region

Every two years, UIL re-aligns schools based on how many students they have and where they are located. This can be a lot to handle, so people in charge of these groups (Region Executive Secretaries) need to work together to make sure everything goes smoothly for the schools that are moving.

These are the steps to follow:

NOTE:  THESE STEPS MUST BE FOLLOWED IN THIS ORDER SO AS NOT TO AFFECT PAST AND PRESENT ENTRIES

Region Executive Secretary of the Region the school is moving INTO:

The Region Executive Secretary of the Region the school is moving to should add the School, Address, City, State, Zip, TEA Code, and Conference to their school list. Directions on how to set up a new school can be found here.

Region Executive Secretary of the Region the school is moving OUT OF:

Once the school has been created in the new region, the Region Executive Secretary of the original region can update the region for each of the teachers from the school that has moved.

Example: Brooklyn High School is moving from one region to another.

a.      From the Home screen, select the Director List tile

b.      Make sure you have selected to Show Inactive Directors so that you don’t miss anyone

c.      Search for school name (in this example: Brooklyn High School). This will be the list of directors you will need to update.

d.      Click the pencil icon to the right of the director’s name to make an update to the director profile.

e.      Update the Official UIL Region (and Alternate Region if you know it) to the Region the school will now be in.  This will move the directors from the old Region to the new Region.

f.        Click the green “Update Profile” button

g.       Proceed to the next director at that school.

NOTE:  You may want to validate with the Region Executive Secretary of the new region to ensure the updates have happened correctly after completing the first director.  If the steps have been followed correctly, the director will no longer be visible in the old region and will be visible in the new region.

Once all of the directors have had their regions updated to the new region, you may go in and delete the school from the school list. Directions can be found here.
